I've been so busy I have not been posting lately. Why? We recently lost a family member and then we moved and then my daughter moved too. So here I am. It is only my hubby and me at home anymore so I don't coupon the same as those of you who have a whole bunch of little people still at home. Things will last me alot longer. Things have changed in my couponing. I still buy a paper every week but now I buy more coupons from a clipping service. That way I get more of what I really need to stockpile. I will admit I am still learning. I think the coupons are much better at the beginning of the year. So I am even now planning big hauls starting in January 2012. I hope to top my stockpile off thru spring to the point of needing very little. We'll see, won't we. I will keep you posted.

I ordered coupons from a clipping service this week also because the coupons in the Sunday paper were not much this time and a lot of times when this happens I just order coupons instead of buying a Sunday newspaper. I spend about the same and I get more of what I want.
I also think it is about time to go back and visit the Amish grocery store. Even if I don't get much it is a nice day trip. Happy Couponing everybody.

Sorry For Being Absent
Been SO busy and it is summer so I am always in the pool or visiting family on the patio under the shade tree so forgive me. I will try to do better. lol
My stockpile is large enough now that I can be REALLY picky on what I buy and when, so sometimes I skip alot of things on sale unless close to free.

Week of June 19 to June 25
Big deals this week are here.
I'm not even putting Kroger on here this week because I FOUND NOTHING. The sales there just have not been worth going there recently.
My stockpile has continued to grow but I have slowed down except for free or almost free items. It's just me and Hubby here now, all the kids are grown so I get by on fewer groceries. I do give to the kids and their families but I still buy less. For a family with kids at home the stockpile will be much larger. Plus I live in a small house so I have less room.
If you have any Surf detergent coupons I found some on clearance at Family Dollar and got it really cheap. $3 on sale less a $1 coupon so only $2 for a box of powder.

Week of June 12 to June 18 & Buying Coupons

I am going for free or almost free anymore. I ordered some coupons from a clipping service (I use coupons by Dede), this past week for suave deodorant. The coupons were for 75 cents off 1. I got the 97 cents Suave deodorant from Wal-Mart so I only paid 22 cents a piece for them. I bought 6. Yes I paid for the coupons. But only a few pennies. I feel like its a good deal. I like to get the coupons I really want. If I order on Sunday evening I usually get them on Thursday. Then I shop on Friday. YIPPEE

At the Amish Hillside Discount Grocery
We went to the Amish community near Marion, KY yesterday and went to the Hillside Discount Grocery there. We got some really great deals. It is an Amish run grocery where they have dented, out of date, and close out grocery and drugstore items. It is small but they have alot. I bought spray sunscreen for 99 cents, bottled olive oil for $1 and lots more. They do not take food stamps, or debit cards but they will take checks with an ID or cash. I ended up with a big box of things for only $23. If you go to Marion (from Morganfield) you turn right at the 1st stop light past the McDonalds right before you get to the courthouse. It is a good ways out on the left. Just on down the road from Hillside is the Yoder Variety Store and that's a great place to stop too. And if you go on down this highway you can ride the ferry across the Ohio River to Cave In Rock IL. (Make sure and eat lunch at Gee Jays) Make a day of it.

Holiday Over. Whatz Up Week of May 29 to June 4

If you order clipped coupons I use Coupons by Dede. I can order coupons on Sunday or early Monday and still get them by the end of the week. I have stockpiled enough now that I like to concentrate on certain things when I see the great deal coming up so I do buy my coupons like this sometimes.
I also keep a sort of calendar page that shows my Fridays on it. That's the day I shop most. Then on each date I keep a short list of coupons that will be expiring the following week. That way I know what to concentrate on that Friday so I don't let my coupons expire.

New Fred's Super Dollar Store Ad
The new ad is out for Fred's in Eldorado, IL. Get it HERE. Remember they have double coupons on Saturdays. They have alot of neat things there. Maybe worth checking out depending where you are or if you just need a road trip. Harrisburg is only a few miles from Eldorado too.

This is the week for good deals on Suave products if you still have your coupons. And I think you can get stocked up on detergent this week at a decent price.
CVS has a deal on a gas card. You spend $30 and get a $10 gas card, but I will be honest I can't see me getting it. I don't want some of the things, there are limits, and some of the stuff is overpriced and I would be better off saving the money and buying my own gas, It's up to you, you may want it.
I have been couponing and stockpiling enough now that I am becoming picky. I look for certain things to add to my stockpile and I pass over things unless they are almost free or free. Plus you have to coupon to accommodate your family size. For me it is just me and hubby, but if I had little ones at home I would buy not only different but lots more. Figure out what you need for your family for 6 months and try to stockpile that (if you have room to keep it). I do not buy alot of frozen because I do not have an extra freezer and I worry about power outages ( found that out the hard way).
So everybody needs to coupon different. I am thankful and blessed to save as much as I can. Sure I like free but you can't always get free so at least get it cheap.

Fred's Store
Have you heard of Fred's Hometown Discount Store? It is alot like a large Dollar General or Family Dollar. There is one in Eldorado, IL. I have been there once but I think we ought to check it out on a more serious notice. You can find their website here., where you can see their current ad. And they double coupons up to 70 cents on Saturday only (I am told that if you have more than one of the same coupon they only double the first one, but you can do more than one transaction). Just to let you know.

Week of May 15 to May 21 New Info
Boy things have sure changed since the TLC show Extreme Couponing came out as a series. I went to the KROGER in Harrisburg, IL on Friday and I saw at least 10 people with coupons and several had their binders like me. I talked to 2 young ladies who just started couponing and they were so gung ho. I am thrilled to see this. A lot of people just do not have any concept of how much money can be saved by couponing. Yes it takes time, but it is worth it. As of the end of April I have saved over $1100 this year. And I didn't start until mid January and took 2 weeks off at the end of April for vacation. I am HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. Now when I run out of something I go to my stockpile and get it. I paid less for it and I don't have to run anywhere to get it and use my high priced gas, so I save even more.
As for Frebbies. I have been really watching the drug stores for deals where you buy something and get the same amount back in Register Rewards or ECBs. I do this on a regular basis. And also at CVS they are often out of what I want so be SURE to get those rain checks. They will also give you the ECB on the rain check so be sure and ask for them if they are out of what you want.

Been outside all day. So far just a peek at a few ads and the coupon inserts. Smart Source coupons in The Gleaner and SS and P&G coupons in Evansville Courier. Local Savings coupons in both papers. The coupons are always better in the Evansville Paper. At first glance CVS is looking to have a few really good deals. Hello and We Begin
Today March 30th is the beginning of this blog. So here we go... I wanted a place for us in this area to keep in touch about deals and bargains. My sisters and I are, I guess, what some call "extreme couponers" but I don't really consider us "extreme". We just wanted a way to save money and be able to live well on less money so here we are. Then we discovered alot of our friends want to also. I have been doing this about 2 1/2 months now and I am amazed at what I have stockpiled for so little cash. Let's all learn together.
